Until recently, I have been a solid sleeper. Head hits pillow, gradually relax, fall asleep fairly quickly and aside from a few bathroom trips (I drink a lottttt of water), stay asleep. Over the past few months though, I have been having sleep issues (side note: they have also cropped up a little bit during particularly stressful times, but quickly go away).
Some nights, I will have trouble falling asleep and then once I finally do fall asleep, I wake up frequently throughout the night, tossing and turning and then having trouble falling back asleep again and again and again. It’s frustrating in the moment and then even worse the next day when I’m so tired and feel like I’m just trying to get through the day.
Rex is now seven months old and in the throes of teething. A month ago he was completely un-interested in teether toys and now he has something in his mouth pretty much all day every day. He is also drooling like a champ and gets a little fussier and clingier than usual in the afternoons, which was always Georgie’s teething tell too.
At Rex’s pediatrician appointment recently, his doctor reminded me that now that he’s six months, he can start having small amounts of water at mealtimes. I had sort of forgotten how we introduced water to Georgie, and also figured things may have changed a bit over the past three years, so I started to look into the best sippy cups and stumbled on a very helpful article: The Ultimate Guide To Cup Drinking. (Side note: do any other moms get very, very excited to research a new product for their baby / toddler? The thought of delving into which sippy cups to buy made me more excited that I should admit…)
