Wonderful Weekend

Spending your days with a toddler can truly be the most wonderful and the most maddening thing all at once. We started the week with battles when I asked Georgie to put her toys away. She would shout ‘no!’ and proceed to make an ever bigger mess by thrashing around and throwing things off of her table, out of her toy baskets etc.

Then a few days later she was helping me during clean up time, and then a few days after that she was putting toys away on her own, without me even asking! Of course I don’t expect that to continue every day, but I was so proud to see her grasping the concept. I gave her huge hugs and kisses and told her how proud I was of her, and now when she puts away her toys she says to herself, ‘I’m so proud!!’ What a girl 🙂

This weekend we have some fun Halloween activities, and tomorrow I’m doing my favorite prenatal yoga class. It’s such a blissful 75 minutes – I look forward to it all week.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

A Few Things…

I love this pretty pink button down. It would likely fit my baby bump for a few more months, and then will be ideal for nursing. (Also, what a great nursing sweater.)

True Purposes. (Made me laugh).

I love the pj’s Caitlin is wearing in this post – so pretty!

These fall nachos look soo delicious.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are the Worst. (Ha – this is so true!)

I am potentially too excited about this news… my favorite sneaker brand ever, Allbirds, now makes Smallbirds (eek so cute!) – sneakers for toddlers!!!!!

A solid list of toddler items to keep in your bag.

Breaks my heart a little bit that American kids rank 26th in happiness out of 29 countries.

Such adorable playroom / nursery rugs (and all machine washable!!).

10 Things I Always Tell Pregnant Woman (from a doula).

What a cozy looking sweater.

And such an adorable dress!

I’ve heard wonderful things about this facial oil. I would love to try! (It has blue tansy, also in one of my favorite cleansing balms.)

Reason #659 that Halloween treats are the best treats: candy bar cake.

Ooo I want to live in this for the next few months, maybe longer.

These sheet pan brownies are a genius idea, and they look delicious.

Georgina’s Three Favorite Toys

Magnetic Cupcake Puzzle // My mom – a pediatrician, mother of four and grandmother of three – always finds the best toys, and this one was no exception! It’s an adorable flip top box with two sections inside. One section has cards with illustrations of yummy cupcakes, and the other is filled with magnetic pieces. You put the pieces on the top flap to create the cupcakes and to be honest, I find this one pretty fun too.

Wooden School Bus // We got this for Georgie on her second birthday, and since then she has played with is just about everyday. It is such a beloved toy! She scoots the bus all around the room and takes out the ‘little girls’ and ‘little boys’ to play with. Now that her imagination is really growing, they will have conversations with each other. She smooshes them right up against each other as they’re talking – it’s hilarious.

Doctor Kit // I bought this for Georgie months ago at one of my favorite toy stores, and she wasn’t that into it until recently, most likely after seeing the Boo Boo Busters Sesame Street episode. She loves pulling this kit out and checking my heartbeat and my ears (don’t know why, but she always checks the ears, and as she does she quietly says ‘ok…ok…’). She introduces herself as ‘Dr. Georgina’ and at the end of the exam she happily tells me everything, ‘sounds great!’

And no list of Georgie’s favorite toys would be complete without a mention of My Little Pony, because Georgie adores these guys so very much. Every morning she asks ‘should we line them all up?’ which is really her way of saying, ‘line them up, mom’ 🙂 so she can count them and admire her collection. She also has, and loves, this little pony bus, which I bought as an airplane treat for our flight to London.

Three Great Things

Here are a few things I’m into these days:

Homecoming // I listened to season one of this podcast in about two days, and am currently devouring season two – it’s so good!! It’s described as a ‘physiological thriller’ and the cast is amazing – David Schwimmer, Catherine Keener and Amy Sedaris. I don’t want to give too much about the plot away, just listen to it and you will be hooked.

One Love Organics Skin Savior // Doesn’t a multitasking wonder balm sound delightful?! This stuff really is. I have been using it to wash my face and my skin is loving it. Sometimes I switch up to another cleanser and then I find my skin breaks out a little or gets too oily, and as soon as I get myself back to using this it totally calms down again. To use it, you slather is on, then wipe it off with a warm washcloth. It makes your face perfectly clean but doesn’t strip it of anything so you’re left with a soft, glowing and moisturized face. It has organic coconut oil and mango butter, which makes it smell divine. It’s the absolute best.

Make + Model Sweatpants // Oh boy I love these pants. I bought the grey a few weeks ago and I genuinely look forward to putting them on in the evening. They’re so incredibly soft, it’s like slipping your legs into a cloud. I also have these which I love equally as much. They’re pretty long though, so I only wear them inside – they are the perfect ‘throw on when you get home’ pants, or in my case ‘throw on before giving Georgie a bath’ pants 🙂
