Tom left early Sunday morning for the west coast for a business trip (he’s back tonight! Yay!) and when I tell people, the reaction is mostly the same. ‘Are you ok to have Georgie on your own all week??’
Had you asked me in the early months of motherhood, my answer would have been a resounding no, followed by me crying on your shoulder for about 15 minutes, followed by me asking if you wouldn’t mind going out to get me a milkshake, preferably a black and white one from here. (Luckily, Tom made sure he wasn’t traveling when Georgie was tiny, and if he was, we had my mom lined up to come to the city and help. Thank you, Tom & Mom!)
But these days, I have the hang of it more often than not, and while Georgie and I of course miss Tom, conquering parenthood on my own for a few days makes me feel like I can truly do anything. I cherish my time with Georgie when it’s just the two of us, and it helps to make it even sweeter when we are back together as a family of three.
