Georgina turned 13 months old yesterday, and I realized the day came and went without me even singing happy birthday! (We did a belated song today instead.) There is so much celebration around each month during the first year of life, which I totally get – there is such an incredible amount of change that happens every month, it’s nice to reflect on it and also to celebrate getting through yet another month as brand new parents. But I don’t want those monthly reflections to stop just because we are now past the first year. Just because Georgina’s first year monthly sticker pack has run out, my devotion and appreciation and love for my sweet girl only continues to grow as she does.
Georgie is a full walker now, and never crawls anymore. Over the past month she has gotten so good, and adores her newfound skill. Now that the weather is a little warmer, it’s so fun to put on her sneakers and let her walk around the park. The first time we went she literally squealed with excitement. She walked over to the alphabet cubes and the big kids and checked out the dogs walking past and she was thrilled!!
Georgie is still an adventurous and curious little lady. Sometimes around the apartment we lovingly call her our little maniac, because she wants to get into everything, and would dive head first off of our bed if we let her. Her favorite activity is sticking her hands in the toilet, and if I see her getting close and say her name she starts to giggle like crazy because she knows she is doing something she shouldn’t. She also adores being chased, and standing on her tippy toes to get to things that are on the tops of tables around out apartment. Time for baby proofing round two!
Georgina is now fully weaned, and has 8 oz. of milk in the morning when she wakes up, and in the evening after her bath. She LOVES her milk and guzzles it down in about 10 seconds, taking a few quick, big breaths in between. She still loves her food, and current favorites include broccoli, mango, hummus wraps, peanut butter toast, banana muffins, bean burgers and chicken.
Our local library has story time on Mondays, and even though it’s slight mayhem in there (they cap the class at 50 people!), Georgie loves it. When we go I make sure to give her some time before or after class to wander through the kids section. It’s endless fun for her to pull book after book off the shelf 🙂
I mean, LOOK at that tummy!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Georgina went to her cousin’s third birthday party a few weeks ago, and held her own amazingly well with all of the big kids. It was at a gym uptown and she walked and climbed and tumbled and ate bagels and when I didn’t get her her own piece of birthday cake, she stuck her chubby little hand into the piece of the little boy next to her. Haha!
The first year of parenting was wild and exhausting and wonderful and intense and incredible, and I can’t wait for everything to come over the next year! Georgie Rose, we adore you!!!
