I like any excuse to buy a whole new slew of products, so when Georgina was born, I certainly didn’t hold back. As an added bonus, I have found that some of her products work wonders on me too. Here are the ones I like best:
L’Occitane Mom & Baby Balm: This was a Valentine’s Day gift from Georgina (Tom) and one that I recently moved from my diaper bag to my medicine cabinet. It’s eco certified, all of the ingredients (shea butter, coconut oil etc.) are fair trade and it has a great buttery balm consistency. For baby, it can be used as a massage calm and for me, I love it when my skin needs something really thick. I often get itchy spots on my legs or arms after I shower (especially if I dry brush!), and this stuff provides immediate relief better than anything else I’ve tried. It’s also great for the dry spots I get on my knuckles in the winter. And apparently it’s great for preventing stretch marks during pregnancy!
Honest Organic Healing Balm: I use this multi-purpose balm as my nighttime hand cream. I wash my hands a crazy amount during the day to keep them germ-free, so they can get a little dry. I love this because it’s all natural, super thick and hydrating, and has the faintest chamomile scent. A little goes a really long way with this one, so it lasts forever. I have used it every night for months, and I’m still on my first tube!
Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Multipurpose Ointment: Burt’s Bees is the best, and their Baby Bee line has such fun products. (I used the Mama Bee Belly Butter my entire pregnancy on my tummy & thighs, morning & night.) This ointment is thick but not greasy, and I use it for massaging Georgie after her bath, or as a daily moisturizer for me. It’s 100% natural and smells heavenly – like a five-star tropical resort; slightly sweet and fresh and happy.
Baby Aquaphor: I have a few tiny tubes of this and mainly use it as lip balm. I think it’s basically the same as regular Aquaphor, but has slightly cuter, baby-centric packaging (I’m such a sucker for packaging). It’s a good diaper bag addition for any cuts or scrapes baby gets, or for when your skin needs an extra little boost of hydration.
