Happy 2017!! Admittedly I am a little late in posting pictures from the holidays, but here we go anyway! While we usually spend Christmas and New Year’s in England, we stayed home this year. Tom had to travel to London for work earlier in December, and it just didn’t seem to make a ton of sense for us to all travel back so soon after. While we missed our family over there huge amounts, it was really lovely and cozy to spend Christmas in our new home.
There was a tree lighting ceremony in the village a few weeks before Christmas, and all during the day they had fun little things set up all over Main Street. There was a bake sale, holiday-themed arts and crafts at the library, and they opened up the fire station and police station so kiddos could go into the trucks and cars to beep the horns and sound the sirens.
On Christmas morning I made cinnamon buns and they were crazy delicious. I made a dozen and I won’t even tell you how many were left at the end of the day (ok fine, it was two, which means we ate ten cinnamon buns – TEN!!!!). Tom also made a delicious lunch with turkey and gravy and the best roast potatoes I have ever had.
The first gift Georgie saw when she walked downstairs on Christmas morning was her new play kitchen. She is still too young to get excited about presents and the meaning of the holiday (or any holiday!) and she wasn’t too sure what to make of her play kitchen at first, but she did love the puzzles and books and other fun toys she was given. And as always, she was enthralled by the ‘tree tree.’
It poured all day on Christmas Eve, but the 25th was a beautiful, sunny day so we took a big walk on the aqueduct after breakfast. Lately we have been leaving the stroller behind so Georgie can run around and fully explore on her own, which she adores. It usually means we come home with her covered in dirt and mud and leaves, but it’s totally worth it 🙂
