I have long been a fan of using lotion on my body (especially my arms, legs and feet) twice a day. It’s a habit I got into years ago, and it has helped hugely in keeping my skin soft, even when the weather gets crazy. Here are a few favorites.
Honest Organic Body Oil // I love using this body oil at night, when I have more time to really slather it on and wait for it to dry properly. It stays fairly oily on your body for a bit, but it feels great to throw on pajamas and climb into bed while it sinks in. It smells faintly of Fig Newtons (yum), it’s certified organic, it can be used on pregnant bellies and infants and toddlers, and is under $10 a bottle.
Korres Guava Body Butter // This one is a really thick cream – perfect for working into drier patches like elbows and feet – and it smells so good I will be keeping the tube forever, even though the lotion is basically all gone. Korres is a Greek brand that I’m a big fan of. They never include any bad ingredients in their products, and everything is scented naturally. Oh and I love their greek yogurt face wash too.
Weleda Skin Food // I recently rediscovered my love of this product. It’s such an essential for the winter months as it’s the thickest, most moisturizing and calming product ever. Tom and I both use it on our hands at night before getting into bed, and I reach for it several times throughout the day too. It definitely has an earthy smell which may take a little getting used to, but I like it. It has so many good-for-your-skin ingredients to not only get rid of dryness, but to calm and restore your skin too.
Alba Botanica Very Emollient Body Lotion // This is the everyday body lotion that I use in the mornings. It sinks in fast, works well to keep my skin soft and has no parabens or phthalates, which is basically all I could ever want in a body lotion. Also the bottle is huge, so it lasts forever. (I actually meant to order the unscented one, which also has no fragrance, but got this one by accident. It’s still great, but I prefer body lotions to be without added fragrances – unless they’re naturally scented – so will be getting the unscented next time!)
P.S. Favorite winter face skincare products here.
P.P.S. On my wish-list is this balm and this oil (and this one for when spring rolls around).
