I love that Georgina is a city baby. Although it can be tough at times, New York is a wonderful place to have a baby, and I am the most thankful and in awe of people’s amazing kindness. Sometimes women look at Georgie, smile, then say to me, ‘she’s beautiful, enjoy her.’ Once, when Georgie was just learning how to wave, I carried her up and down Park Avenue and she waved at all of the doormen, and they all waved back. She is currently enamored with ‘doggies’ and when she perks up and smiles as once passes, more often than not the owner will pick the dog up and bring them right to the stroller so Georgie can say hi. The sweet employees at our local bodega give Georgie sips of freshly-made smoothies, and when she was born they gave her $20 for her piggy bank.
I know we won’t live in Manhattan forever, but for now, I am appreciating the city in ways I never thought that I would. And for any other city dwellers out there, this was the one thing I couldn’t live without when Georgie was a newborn, and this and this are our current must-haves for getting around.
^Every morning we take Georgie over to the window, open the shades and say ‘Good morning, New York’ while we point out all of the different things to see.
