I started to love baths when I moved to London. I think it was a ‘when in Rome’ thing, because every single person there seemed to adore a nice, long soak in the tub. I had always gotten too hot and quickly bored when I took a bath, but then something clicked and suddenly I loved how warming and relaxing the bath was. I also loved that sleepy, soft-skin feeling I always had when I got out of the bath. Ahhhhhh.
One of the best and easiest ways to get a solid soak in the tub is to combine about a cup of epsom salt and a few drops of lavender essential oil. It gives your bath a calming smell and soothes tired, achey muscles. Only downside to this combination is the lack of suds. (Note: I have been wanting to try these and thinking I’ll get them from Amazon once the weather gets a touch colder and baths are more frequent.)
I loved baths throughout my pregnancy – they were so relaxing for my swollen feet and ankles, Georgie would always kick away in the bath, and (maybe most importantly) feeling semi-weightless when I was 40+ pounds above my typical weight was a big plus. I always stuck to the all natural route and stayed away from essential oils (apparently they aren’t safe during pregnancy, which was a big surprise to me). My favorite was the Kiss My Face Early to Bed Shower Gel, which smells clean and fresh and the tiniest bit gives your bath an amazingly fluffy amount of bubbles.
Another all time favorite is the Cowshed Knackered Cow Bath Gel – smells SO divine and is worth every penny.
P.S. Baby bathtime favorites here.
