Georgie and I are down the shore with my parents while Tom is traveling for work. We are soaking up the last of the warm days and watching the waves roll by and eating seafood and leftover birthday cake. And most excitingly, Georgie is starting to crawl!!!
About a week ago she started to slide along her tummy in a sluggish sort of army crawl, then a few days ago she started to rock back and forth on her hands and knees and today she mastered an actual crawl – putting one hand in front of the other and moving her knee forward. It was adorable and I felt so proud! I didn’t get any pictures because my phone was all the way on the other side of the room, and I wanted to really experience the moment with her rather than dash off and then see it from behind my iPhone screen. But I will snap some soon to share!
I know a lot of moms mourn the progression of their babies getting older, and they miss the early newborn days and wish time would slow down. For me, I cherish each stage Georgie goes through, but feel so excited about everything there is to come – getting her first tooth, learning to stand, starting to toddle around, her first words. Each milestone makes my heart swell with pride and happiness and I just feel so incredibly fortunate to be this sweet little munchkin’s mom.
Also, totally not related to crawling, but this week Georgie rode in a shopping cart for the first time (at Target, of course) and it was precious. She loved looking around, and would spend a few seconds looking to her left before whipping her head around and checking out what was happening on the right. The cutest!!
