Georgina has been a solid 12+ hour sleeper at nighttime since we sleep trained her at around four months. Sometimes she will wake up once or twice to make a sleepy groan or chat to her lovey for a few seconds, but then she’s right back to sleep. Last night, at around 3:30am she woke up really crying, which is so unlike her, so I scooped her up from her crib and brought her into bed with us, rubbing her back and kissing her head. She is never in bed with us during the night, so at first she was super confused and kept rolling around and peeking up at us. Like, her, what are you guys doing here?! Then, she popped her fingers into her mouth and got cozy in between Tom and I. She grabbed her lovey, and Tom grabbed my hand, and for a few minutes, it was pure, heavenly bliss.
There is something so magical about having your baby in bed with you in the middle of the night – listening to their heavy breathing, feeling their warm skin as they cuddle up close. I tried to cherish every second, then once Georgie seemed totally relaxed, I brought her back into her crib and she fell right asleep. Tom and I on the other hand, were wide awake! Oh well – today is Friday. Plus, coffee.
This weekend we are hanging out in the city, taking bundled-up walks and cooking cozy food. Then Sunday we have a swimming playdate in our friends building. Can’t wait to get little Georgie fish back in her beloved water!
Have a wonderful weekend!
