We spent the July 4th weekend in Vermont, and it was one of our most fun and memorable vacations ever. We planned the trip so we could celebrate the wedding of our friends Marissa and Sam, which took place at Sam’s family farm in Wallingford. Since the drive was four plus hours and we were traveling with a five month old, we decided to extend the trip and stay for four nights, so we could really relax and settle in, and give Georgie a bit of a routine.
This was our first trip to Vermont so we didn’t know what to expect, and as soon as we arrived we fell in love with the area – so much so that we have been perusing homes for sale since we got back to the city. A total pipe dream for now, but it would be pretty incredible to have a country house up there!
There is beautiful scenery everywhere you look, from the Green Mountains that were always peeking out against the blue sky, to the homes which are all white with black or green shutters. It was such a literal breath of fresh air compared to the crazed and busy Manhattan lifestyle – such a treat!
We stayed at the Barrows House Inn in Dorset, which felt more like a really beautiful and cozy country home than a hotel. It was our first time trying Georgie’s travel crib (we have this one), and she slept like a dream. Thank you country air! One of the best parts of the Inn was that our baby monitor had a perfect signal at the restaurant, which was located on the back patio. So when Georgie went to sleep at 6:30pm, Tom and I could head downstairs and have some wine and dinner.
Vermont, we miss you already!!
^Vermont bound! Don’t be fooled by this peacefully snoozing baby – the nap lasted about 25 minutes. This girl definitely sleeps best in her crib!
